Ek baar phir….

Meery Christmas my friends

Christmas not only brings family and friends together. It also helps us appreciate and be thankful for what we have as we often take our life for granted. Christmas time is a season of great joy. It is a time of remembering the past and hoping for the future.

Today on the eve of Christmas, while trying to see my life through a new angle, I wrote this poem with a never give up spirit…Hope this fill you up with energy and enthusiasm..

Ek baar phir

It’s not at all a new term. It’s been there for ages since none can succeed without 21st century skills.

Now the question comes…What they are?

The 21st century skills are a set of abilities that students need to develop in order to succeed in the information age.

Learning Skills

  • Critical Thinking
  • Creative Thinking
  • Collaborating
  • Communicating

Literacy Skills

  • Information Literacy
  • Media Literacy
  • Technology Literacy

Life Skills

  • Initiative
  • Social Skills
  • Productivity
  • Leadership

Here is an interesting video for you – Click Here

According to present employers, the most important skills they search in their new employees are teamwork, critical thinking/reasoning, assembling/organizing information, and innovative thinking/creativity. Thus they need the following competencies to combat with the challenges and demands of 21st century:

Now as we understood the importance of 21st century skills, Is CBSE doing anything in this regard. Certainly.

CBSE has introduced Problem Solving Assessment (PSA), Open Text Based Assessment (OTBA), Assessment of Speaking and Listening Skills (ASL) ,Multidisciplinary Projects and Value Education to make a conscious effort to develop these skills. Let’s see a video for the same – Click Here

Now the question comes, How to prepare students for 21st Century Skills?

The only way to prepare students successfully for 21st Century is by changing the way we teach. By making teaching more interactive ,by using different techniques like project based learning ,survey and other group activities.

21st Century  Skills can be developed through Active Learning

  • Teaching & learning through stimulating activities
  • Working in small groups & pairs
  • Brainstorming
  • Role-plays
  • Experiential learning
  • Games & debates
  • Home assignments, to further discuss and practice skills with family & friends.
  • Engage students

Education Scenario is changing….We ought to change the way we teach!!!!

CBSE rightly said “Students no more need a sage on the stage, rather they need a Guide by their Side……..”

Let’s Make teaching Student Centered. When we talk about student centered classroom, we talk about a classroom where the student is at the centre of the learning and he is an active constructor of his/her learningTeacher serves more as a guide, resource & a facilitator , setting up activities that require students to communicate with one another in order to accomplish tasks.

So let’s create student centered classrooms where students can learn, grow and lead the world.

Keep learning, Keep growing

Happy Teacher’s Day!!

Happy Teachers Day to all the wonderful teachers specially to those who dedicated their lives for the upliftment and betterment of the Education System, Who spent all their energies to build a better India and World a better place to live in.

Rightly said by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi in an email message on Teachers Day- “Teaching is not just another profession. It is a divine responsibility to guide and enlighten,”

In India, teachers day is celebrated on the birthday of the second president of India, Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. He was a noted philosopher and teacher, and also received the British knighthood.

Radhakrishnan was awarded several high awards during his life, including the Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award in India, in 1954, and honorary membership of the British Royal Order of Merit in 1963. Radhakrishnan believed that “teachers should be the best minds in the country”.

Radhakrishnan was also a great writer. He was the first of many philosophers who brought Indian philosophy to the forefront. He was a very popular teacher and well-loved by his students. It was his students who requested his permission to celebrate his birthday on the 5th of September. Instead, he chose to let every teacher celebrate the day. And since then, his birthday has been observed as Teacher’s Day. It was first celebrated in 1962.

Today through this blog, I would like to thank two wonderful teachers Ms Neelkamal ‘my Sanskrit teacher’ in 9th and 10th class and Mr. Ishan Zaidi ‘Voice & Accent Trainer in HCL.

Neelkamal Mam: It’s not only the subject that she taught us wonderfully but she also helped us to understand how simplicity and honesty may touch anybody’s heart. I always fell for her calm and composed nature, the way she used to teach us and correct our mistakes with a genuine smile. She used to bring a lot of positivity and enthusiasm in the classroom. We used to feel like free birds who can share their ideas and imaginations in an open environment without fear of getting scolded and punished as we knew that there is somebody to listen to our voices and acknowledge our effort.

Mr. Ishan Zaidi: I just can’t let this day pass without wishing my voice and accent trainer, a person who changed my life forever, who made me the kind of communicator I’m today. I was a girl from a Govt school who started learning English from Class 6th only however never got the kind of guidance which you gave me. Every time somebody praises me for my communication skills, ‘I thank you’ but never let you know how thankful I am.

So today I’m taking this opportunity to thank you for the way you taught us the right way to communicate in English, thank you for bringing out the best in me, thank you to correct my pronunciation every time with a genuine smile and thank you very much for all your encouragement.

I dedicate this day to both of my lovely teachers.

Stay thankful, Stay Blessed!

JOB – Joy Of Being!

December 2, 2013, I finally decided to leave my job from a highly reputed fashion education institute where in you generally get all the leisure of two weekend offs, summer and winter breaks and other good number of gazetted holidays. Who would want to leave an organisation where you draw a good enough salary, easy commutation, good number of leaves, big Branding, great infrastructure…I also didn’t think that way when joined.

Just after few months, I felt that I’m not going the right way. This is not what is meant for me. My creativity and intelligence is of no use if I stay here and become greedy of having a job where I can get all the comfort but not happiness. I spoke to many, tried to understand my strengths, started working on myself, started working as a Trainer in an NGO for free and finally I discussed with my family about my decision of leaving job and pursuing my dream career – Training & Development.

Image

I placed my notice period of a month in my company and started research. I didn’t have anything concrete but I had full faith on my strong desire which helped me to take this risk of sitting home for around 20 days after I left my company.

In next 20 days, I started receiving calls, went to many places for Interview, failed many times, kept on studying, working hard and smart on my skills. Finally I got one project of NSDC, where I worked with full energy and enthusiasm which helped me to get further projects and blocked my dates completely for 2 months.

Starting from nowhere and standing straight with complete faith gives me immense pleasure and satisfaction. More than that when I see  in the eyes of my student where I felt a huge transformation at the end of the training project, the way they all were dressed, the confidence and smiles on their faces made me feel….I have succeeded.

So why this story? Why am I telling about myself?

Just want to ask you “Do you have a JOB – “Joy Of Being”?

People do jobs, people do business, people make money, buy luxurious cars, smartphones and all the comfort of the world…but question is still the same “Are you HAPPY”?

My journey just started…I was sailing on a wrong boat till date. Are you on the right boat?

Stay Confident…Stay Faithful

Goal is the false medicine!

Rightly said by Mr. J Krishnamurti, the great philosopher “We all want to be famous people, and the moment we want to be something, we are no longer free“.

Let’s first understand Goals…in general words we say that we have something in our mind that we want to achieve..We might want to become a doctor, engineer, politician, businessman, designer or may be something else.

Now, Why we want to achieve something? Most people for Money, Status, Comfort, Security etc etc…and some (very less) want to do something because they will be satisfied or happy by getting that. Right?

Let’s think once again, are we really going to be happy when we’ll get all these? Are these things or positions can really satisfy us or it’s what we think that it will satisfy us? Here the irony is that we are trying to make our future happy…Let me repeat, we are trying to make our future happy…. Is today not our future according to our past??? Re-think about this statement…Is today not our future according to our past? Then why we are not happy now…and what’s the guarantee that we will be happy in next 5 years…10 years…..15 years down the line? Ask from yourself…

Goal is something you plan for future…and what’s the guarantee you’ll see the future? You make goals when you’re frustrated or unhappy or lonely or you compare your social life to others. That means, you are hurt at this moment and you are planning to take a medicine 5 years later…What a joke…that’s why we say “Goal is the false medicine”…it will never be cured..it will give you another goal to chase.

Why not be happy in the present moment….Present is the gift… Do what you love…do what your inner self is crying for…do what you feel passionate about and work will no longer be work… Life will become worth living..You’ll never bother to look at the watch as you’ll be in a deep and intent action of loving your true self and it will certainly flows from you. You’ll have no time to compare yourself with others as you’ll be busy in loving your work.

One of the keys to greatness is finding a way to do something you love to do, not just something that’s ‘safe’ to do. Many people have experienced a high level of achievement but are stuck in professions they hate. What kind of sense does that make? None. High achievement without fulfillment is a broken way of life. – A I Duncan

Succces Mantra: Be True to yourself!

There are times when you feel frustrated, there are times you feel that something is wrong, something needs to be fixed, you feel that you’re not made for what you’re doing…That’s exactly when you need to reflect within yourself and try to read yourself deeply.

I strongly believe that God has blessed every human being with some unique quality which he should nurture further to be the expert in that certain area. First and foremost, we should understand and accept our uniqueness.

Image

Time to time our life gives us hints and clues to help us make out where we can grow better…where we can excel. It comes in our way many times but we as human being mostly avoid the same considering we do not want to come out of our comfort zone, we do not want to take risks, we are more attracted towards titles/designations rather than what we really are!

Take any Successful person for instance and try to see what he did in his life to be successful. One thing he would have done for sure and that is following one’s heart. You can be anything what you really believe. You can be a great communicator, an entrepreneur, a Politician, a great Cook, a creative writer and anything that you really want to be.

It’s high time you need to stop pleasing others, stop living others expectations. You can’t be a great doctor even if you study for 10 years but do not have a desire to do so. I remember the great dialogue from bollywood Movie “3 idiots” – “Success ke peeche mat bhago, Kabil bano, Success jhak maar ke tumhare peeche aayegi” (Don’t run after Success, be talented and success will follow you).

Don’t just work, do something meaningful.

Don’t compare yourself to others as you are different, you have your own style, your own uniqueness which none has. Embrace yourself..Be comfortable in your own skin…Love yourself…

Be Yourself..Everyone else is already taken – Oscar Wilde

Stay loved..Stay Blessed

When life goes difficult..

Image

At times, things seem to be so difficult, life seem to be very hard and rude to you. Whatever you do, does not make a difference to anyone. It seems that no one understands you and whatever you’re doing is a waste. You feel that you are being selfish because you’re doing what you want to do or may be others just do not want to understand you because of their irrational thinking and traditional approach. They do not want to think or accept any different thing or way of leading life.

When life seems to behave badly…when no one tries to understand you…No matter how hard you try, you don’t get things straight..

In all those difficult days, Just stop thinking and start singing loudly and you’ll certainly feel better…Let’s Sing together in belief…

God will make a way

Where there seems to be no way

He works in ways we cannot see

He will make a way for me

He will be my guide

Hold me closely to His side

With love and strength for each new day

He will make a way, He will make a way

Oh, God will make a way

Where there seems to be no way

He works in ways we cannot see

He will make a way for me

By a roadway in the wilderness, He’ll lead me

And rivers in the desert will I see

Heaven and Earth will fade but His Word will still remain

And He will do something new today

Oh, God will make a way

Where there seems to be no way

He works in ways we cannot see

He will make a way for me
